Ramaphosa administration falls short of expectations: Arch Makgoba

Archbishop Thabo Makgoba says the Ramaphosa administration did not meet the expectations of South Africans. Makgoba was speaking during the Christmas Eve Midnight Mass Church Service at St George’s Cathedral in Cape Town.

He says the Government of National Unity will go the same way if politicians continue to live in the past, believing they have a God-given right to rile and ignore the fundamental need to compromise.

Makgoba says they will be pushed even more spectacularly at municipal, provincial, and national elections to come.

Archbishop Thabo Makgoba leads Christmas Eve service:

The spirit of Christmas filled the church as families, young and old, gathered for the service. SABC’s Lulama Matya spoke to attendees about the significance of the occasion.

“I am actually not a Christian but I believe that religious festivals like Christmas ought to unite, especially in our country and globally. So much negativity going on I think we should all be getting together irrespective of religion and promoting peace and unity,” says one person attending the service.

Another one adds, “As a child, we were always taken to midnight mass it’s a huge event in the Christian calendar, and celebrating the birth of Christ fundamental to our way of life.”

“Christmas is a time of peace and love and hope and for us coming to church as a family we come here to get that message just being inspired again and enjoy the festive season with our loved ones…” explains this attendee.
