Thohoyandou High Court in Limpopo.
One of the accused in the killing of two South African Municipal Workers’ Union (Samwu) leaders in Limpopo is today expected to take the stand in a trial-within-trial at the High Court in Thohoyandou.
Percy Radzuma will testify in his defence on the admissibility of a confession statement he allegedly made on December 5, 2020.
The Radzuma siblings, Simon, Percy and Ndivhuwo are being tried for more than 40 counts, including the murders of Samwu leaders, Timson Musetsho and Ronald Mani.
Musetsho and Mani had spoken out against an investment that Vhembe District Municipality had made in the defunct VBS Mutual Bank.
Percy has denied making the statement through his lawyer Advocate Ntsako Hlungwane earlier this week.
He said he was only interrogated on whether he knew Thabo Sibanze, an Eswatini national who was acquitted of Mani’s and Musetsho’s murder charges or not.
The court will make a ruling on whether the statement is accepted as evidence or not.
‘Payment made to kill Samwu leader’
During proceedings last month, the court heard that two of the siblings were paid R150 000 to kill Musetsho.
Police Captain Mulingoni Tshilande read the confession a statement made by Simon Radzuma saying his sibling Percy had paid him R50 000 and was left with R100 000.
