Race4Charity raises over R1.5 million for conservation, anti-poaching

The spirit of endurance, generosity and national pride has once again extended beyond the finish line of the Comrades Marathon.

In a powerful collaboration between the SANParks Honorary Rangers and the Comrades Marathon Association’s AmaBeadiBeadi charity initiative, over R1.5 million has been raised through the “Race4Charity” initiative to support conservation and anti-poaching efforts in South Africa.

SANParks Honorary Rangers Treasurer, Ian Catt says the funds will be vital for the future of conservation and natural heritage protection in the country.

“For the money raised through the Comrades fundraising events, I would like to, on behalf of SANParks Honorary Rangers, say thank you to the runners and sponsors,” he says.

Catt says they support SANParks in their 20 national parks around the country by raising funds, providing support, and contributing a lot of manpower in the parks throughout the year.

“We work on wish lists which are approved jointly between SANParks and Honorary Rangers, which is a wish list for every park around the country,” he adds.
