Former African National Congress (ANC) national spokesperson Pule Mabe has reaffirmed his commitment to the party.
Mabe has had to step aside from the ANC’s National Executive Committee after being charged with corruption last year.
He was addressing the media outside the Palm Ridge Specialised Commercial Crimes Court after his brief appearance.
Mabe, his wife and five other co-accused face charges of fraud, corruption and contravention of the Public Finance Management Act. This is a connection with the R27 million tender fraud case linked to his company, Enviro Mobi. The case has been postponed to the 18th of February next year.
Mabe says he will never leave the ANC.
“I didn’t leave the ANC because I’m suddenly facing a charge; the ANC did not put a charge against me here. I’ve renewed my membership, but I’ve submitted myself to the ANC in terms of association. I will never leave. For as long as I live, I belong to that organization. I don’t belong leaders of the ANC. I belong to the ANC; if tomorrow we are voting, I will vote for the ANC.”
