Johannesburg Emergency Management Services has called on the public to use fireworks responsibly this festive season.
EMS spokesperson Xolile Khumalo emphasized the need for adult supervision when children handle firecrackers and urged consideration for pets, which can be distressed by fireworks.
“Please ensure pets are locked away during this time and adhere to permitted fireworks times: 11 pm to 1 am on New Year’s Eve, and between 7 pm and 10 pm on other days,” said Khumalo.
The EMS remains on high alert to respond to any emergencies.
