The Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC) has called on the South African government to criminalise the activities of Israel and those who trade with it.
About 60 organisations have joined the PSC for a mass rally at the Sea Point Promenade in Cape Town.
The PSC will also be weighing in on developments in Palestine with an emphasis on the return to Gaza of people who have been displaced by the most recent conflict.
Coordinator for Palestine Solidarity Campaign, Usuf Chikte says they want Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu to be arrested.
“We are calling for a boycott, divestment and sanctions against Israel. A total boycott of sports, academic institutions and arms embargoe. But this is going to be captured in a comprehensive legislation, the apartheid legislation which we want to domesticate as a sequel to the signing of the prevention of apartheid. The suppression and punishment of apartheid, which is a crime against humanity and which South Africa has signed up to at the UN.”
