Proteas Women secure fifth successive win at World Cup

Despite the unpredictable weather, South Africa kept the momentum going and recorded their fifth successive victory at the Women’s Cricket World Cup in India and Sri Lanka.

They beat Pakistan by 150 runs in another rain-affected match in Colombo to cement their place in the top three on the log as they shift their focus shifts to the semi-finals.

The Proteas Women posted an imposing 312 for the loss of nine wickets in allotted 40 overs with captain Laura Wolvaardt, Suné Luus and Marizanne Kapp scoring half centuries.

Wolvaardt top scored with 90 off 82 balls.

After more rain delays, Pakistan’s target was revised to 234 off 20 overs and they were restricted to 83 for the loss of seven wickets.
