Proteas’ quest for World Cup T20 silverware starts on Monday

South Africa’s senior men’s cricket team will resume their quest to win some World Cup silverware, when the ICC’s Men’s T20 World Cup gets under way in India and Sri Lanka, this weekend.

The Proteas have a warm-match against hosts in India at the DY Patil stadium in Navi Mumbai Wednesday afternoon and according to coach Shukri Conrad, the squad is rearing to go.

The South Africans will get their campaign under way against Canada in Ahmedabad on Monday.

Protea’s coach Shukri Conrad, “We start with a clean slate we need to play well we need to get out of the group stage. There’s a lot to a World Cup than a once off test match tricky games all of them is a must win essentially and every side can beat any side on its day. It’s a fickle format but we need to make sure we win the clutch moments, get out of the group stages and then start ramping it up as we go along, it’s going to be a tough nut to crack but we up for it.”
