Proteas hero of the day Tristan Stubbs
It took two super overs before South Africa and Afghanistan could be separated in their ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Group D match in Ahmedabad.
And the Proteas prevailed in the most dramatic fashion.
After the match ended in a tie with both teams having scored 187, Proteas batter Tristan Stubbs needed a six off the last ball of the first super over, to give his team another crack at victory.
He produced and in the second super over, Stubbs and David Miller batted first and posted 23 runs with three sixes.
Left-arm spinner Keshav Maharaj then restricted Afghanistan to 19 for two to secure victory.
The Proteas remain unbeaten from two matches and next take on the only other unbeaten team in the Group D, New Zealand, in Ahmedabad on Saturday.
