The Proteas have not defeated the Diamonds in 49 Tests.
South Africa lost 65-42 to Australia in the third and final netball Test at Adelaide, Australia today. The Diamonds of Australia won the opening two Tests against the Proteas to complete a 3-nil series result.
The Australian Diamonds continued to showcase their dominance against the Proteas, as they beat them 65-42 to claim the series 3-nil.
The Diamonds, who won the opening two Tests against the Proteas, had a strong start. They led 20-11 at the first break and extended their advantage on the scoreboard to 39-20 at half-time.
The Proteas, though, refused to give up in the third quarter and were rewarded for their efforts when they outscored the Diamonds 12-10 in the term; however, this was not enough as Australia still enjoyed a 49 – 32 lead. But the Diamonds had too much class in the final quarter to register a comfortable win.
Elmeré van der Berg who will play for the Adelaide Thunderbirds in Super Netball next year, led the scoring for the Proteas with 20 goals from 22 attempts. Proteas captain Khanyisa Chawane says they will learn from the disappointment of losing the series.
“Disappointment is what fuels us; it is not something that will take us down, we want to use this as motivation to move forward so it is exciting time for us, learning this type of lessons coming back we are definitely going to be better,” says Chawane.
