Proteas beat India by 76 runs, Jansen takes four wickets

South Africa has recorded a remarkable victory over India in Ahmedabad to remain unbeaten in this year’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

The Proteas beat the defending champions and co-hosts by 76 runs in a repeat of the 2024 final to get their Super 8 campaign off on a winning start.

After opting to bat first, the Proteas were reeling at 20 for three after four overs. But Dewald Brevis and David Miller counter-attacked with a 97-run partnership and the Proteas posted 187 for seven.

Miller top scored with 63 off 35 balls. The bowlers were all exemplary and bowled India out for 111.

Marco Jansen took four for 22.

The Proteas next match is against the West Indies on Thursday, also in Ahmedabad.
