Proteas beat England with 7 wickets in hand at first ODI

South Africa have crushed England at Headingley in Leeds in the first of three One Day Internationals. The Proteas beat their hosts by seven wickets in a match that didn’t even last 50 overs in total.

England who were put into bat, were bowled out for 131 inside 25 overs. The world’s top ranked ODI bowler, left-arm spinner Keshav Maharaj, took four for 22 in five and a half overs.

Opening batter, Aiden Markram, then smashed 88 off 55 balls as the Proteas cruised to victory with more than 29 overs to spare.

The second match of the series is at Lord’s in London on Thursday.
