Pressure mounts on IDT to finish R173m N Cape school left in ruins

The Independent Development Trust (IDT) has expressed its commitment to engaging with the Northern Cape Education Department in the face of growing calls for the completion of the Northern Cape boarding school project, which was funded by the IDT.

The R173 million construction project that began seven years ago has been halted. The state entity is under scrutiny for its unfinished infrastructure projects across the country.

Acting Spokesperson for IDT, Lerato Modisana says, “At this stage, the IDT cannot confirm nor deny the specific details referenced. We will first engage the client department to verify the facts and obtain supporting information. Our response will be based on confirmed and verifiable data to ensure accuracy. We remain committed to transparency and will provide an informed comment once this process has been concluded.”
