Deputy President Paul Mashatile says the Presidency is ready to face full scrutiny from Parliament’s newly established oversight Committee.
Mashatile made the comments while interacting with the Parliamentary Gallery Association (PGA). Last week, the National Assembly adopted a report of the Rules Committee that establishes a committee that will play oversight over the Presidency.
He says both he and President Cyril Ramaphosa will cooperate fully with MPs as they exercise their oversight powers.
Mashatile says, “Myself and the President, we have agreed, we have no problem with the committee. We will subject ourselves to that and yes, Members of Parliament have all the rights to ask us on issues that they think are of public interest. They can ask everything they want to ask.”
