Stop GBV awareness.
The Police and Prisons Civil Rights Union (Popcru) has raised concern over the alleged intimidation and harassment of female correctional services workers in the Northern Cape and the Free State.
This comes as the country observes 16 days of activism against gender-based violence.
Popcru alleges that senior officials abuse power and ask for sexual favours from female officials.
They embarked on a march in Kimberley to raise awareness about the harassment faced by female officials.
Popcru Northern Cape Chairperson Zamani Mathiso says, “Workers are harassed by the area commissioner. There’s nothing really that workers can do. Employees within this particular sector especially at Correctional Services, they are not protected worse by a woman that leads the region. Workers especially female workers they are abused in this particular management area.” –Reporting by Diteboho Ntimane.
