A 33-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly trading in unregistered steroids and other medicines at the Bendor suburb of Polokwane in Limpopo.

The man is suspected of operating an unlicensed medical laboratory at his home.

Police say the arrest comes following tip-offs. Limpopo Police Spokesperson, Malesela Ledwaba says unregistered tablets, syringes, and liquid substances were seized.

Ledwaba adds that the suspect is expected to appear before the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court and that police investigations are continuing.

“The items were identified as unregistered Schedule 4 and Schedule 5 drugs, which can only be prescribed by a medical practitioner via a valid prescription. The suspect was arrested for contravening the Medicines Act. The estimated value of the seized medication is approximately R300 000,” Ledwaba explains.
