ActionSA leadership walk alongside the families of the Lily Mine victims to honour 10 years since the tragedy.
Political parties are expected to attend the commemoration of the 10th anniversary of an incident in which three workers were trapped underground at the Lily Mine near Barberton, Mpumalanga.
Solomon Nyirenda, Pretty Nkambule and Yvonne Mnisi were working in the lamp-room container when part of the mine collapsed, trapping them.
The families of the deceased are at the mine to continue their calls to authorities to retrieve the bodies of their loved ones.
ActionSA president Herman Mashaba is also expected to speak about his party’s efforts to assist the bereaved families to retrieve the bodies of their loved ones.
On 5 February 2016, Lily Mine collapsed, trapping three miners underground. Ten years later, their families are still waiting for justice.
