Political parties arrive at late David Mabuza’s homestead

Members of political parties converged on the homestead of the late former Deputy President of the ANC and the country, David Mabuza, in Barberton, Mpumalanga.

The parties include the ANC, EFF, and the uMkhonto weSizwe Party.

Mabuza died on Thursday at the age of 64.

A former MEC in Mpumalanga, Pat Ngomane, recounts his memory of Mabuza: “I’m saddened, but I must say the man came into my life, touched my life, and gave me a lot of teachings. He benefited a lot of people in the province and the structures of the ANC government. The first name of Comrade DD was service delivery; he built a lot of roads, and he brought water into the society. Even though it is not complete, he touched a lot of people.”

Mabuza’s family prepares for the arrival of his body:

Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi says he feels orphaned by former Deputy President David Mabuza’s death.

Lesufi was one of many state officials who paid respect to Mabuza’s family at their home in Bryanston, Johannesburg.

Lesufi remembers Mabuza as a guiding figure.

“He sees things that we can’t see. He provides guidance where sometimes you don’t even ask for that guidance. He will voluntarily provide that guidance. I’m an orphan. He is a leader of impeccable credentials. And naturally, a leader of that magnitude will attract the opposite. It’s normal, but to us he remains a hero,” adds Lesufi.
