Acting KwaZulu-Natal Deputy Commissioner for Crime Detection Anthony Gopaul addresses the media on November 14, 2025.
KwaZulu-Natal police say they are preparing two dockets for referral to the Provincial Director of Public Prosecutions and the Magistrates Commission.
This is regarding the reasons for entering into a plea agreement for a lesser sentence for controversial businessman Stuart Scharnick.
Addressing the media in Durban on Thursday afternoon, Acting Deputy Provincial Commissioner for Crime Detection Anthony Gopaul says Scharnick was involved in cases, which include carjackings and motor vehicle theft.
Gopaul says, “I’m presenting to you 18 such dockets, when you open each docket, it was syndicated in most of these dockets Mr Stuart had sold ..(sic). People who had possession of the cars, in some instances, he was in possession of the cars, but in the majority of cases, he sold these cars.”
