Police raiding warehouse
Police have uncovered an illicit cigarette storage warehouse in Nirvana, Polokwane, in Limpopo.
Police have arrested a manager of the warehouse.
The bust was made police, the Hawks, and the national consumer protection to curb illicit goods in the country.
Thousands of boxes of illicit cigarettes were confiscated along with other products, including energy drinks.
The warehouse has since been placed under police guard.
Provincial Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe says more arrests are expected.
“Let me say a team of specialised detectives are still working, the investigation that they are doing will tell us who do we arrest going further. At this particular stage I will not mention any further details as investigations are still on going.”
In July last year, Public Safety MMC Mgcini Tshwaku led a joint operation at a Midrand shopping centre where illicit cigarettes and drugs were discovered.
