Six killed in a Horrific head-on Collision on the R61 near Nqeleni, close to Mthatha in the Eastern Cape.
The Eastern Cape Transport Department says police have opened a homicide case after six people died in a collision between a minibus-taxi and a light motor vehicle on the T30 road in Ngqeleni in the Eastern Cape.
The drivers of both vehicles were among the dead in the crash that happened on Sunday. Sixteen other people were injured.
The department’s spokesperson, Unathi Binqose says, “The injured, including two children, were rushed to a hospital in Mthatha. This accident occurs at a time when we are seeing traffic volumes in the province reaching their peak. We are calling on road users to be extra vigilant at all times and meet us halfway to avoid crashes like this one that has claimed so many lives.”
