Police on the hunt for 10 suspects in PTA tavern shooting


Police are searching for 10 suspects after three people were wounded and five people were shot and killed at a tavern in the Choba informal settlement in Olievenhoutbosch, Pretoria.

Masondo says the suspects are still on the run and the motive for the shooting is unknown at this stage.

Three other people were wounded in the incident, which happened on Friday night.

Police have confirmed that they have arrested the owner of the tavern.

Gauteng Police Spokesperson Mavela Masondo says five people were killed when ten suspects stormed the tavern and started shooting randomly.

He says nine people are currently in hospital after they sustained injuries during the incident. According to the police, the suspects entered the tavern and started shooting at patrons randomly.

“Police are on the lookout for approximately 10 suspects after five people – two females and three males- were shot and killed. The police have opened a case of murder and attempted murder for investigation. Police are appealing to anyone who might have information that can help in the investigation or assist in the apprehension of the suspects to please call the nearest police station or call Crime Stop on 08600 10111,” says Gauteng police spokesperson, Mavela Masondo.
