Kidnapping
The South African Police Service (SAPS) Provincial Organised Crime, Anti-Gang Unit is requesting the public’s assistance in locating a 38-year-old Chinese national who was kidnapped this morning in Gqeberha, Eastern Cape.
It is alleged that the victim was traveling to his business in Kariega after he returned from the fresh produce market.
The police say, as he was approaching the M17 turnoff when shots were fired, forcing him to stop his vehicle.
Three unknown suspects approached the vehicle and took the victim out of the vehicle and forced him into the minibus and drove off.
A case of attempted murder and kidnapping has been opened, and an appeal has been made to anyone with information to contact the police.
Police provincial spokesperson, Captain Sandra Van Rensburg, says all information will be confidential and no ransom has been demanded yet.
“The SAPS anti crime gang unit is requesting public assistance tracing and locating a 30 year old chinese national that was kidnapped earlier today at in Gqeberha, its alleged that, the victim was traveling to his business in Kariega, as he was returning a white Toyota Quantum parked on the road and shots were fired three unknown suspects came to a vehicle and forced him to a mini bus and drove off, a case of attempted murder has been opened,” says Van Rensburg.
