Limpopo police have opened a murder and inquest docket following the discovery of the bodies of a 33-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman in a house in Northam, outside Thabazimbi, yesterday.
According to police spokesperson Malesela Ledwaba, the woman’s body was found lying in bed, while the man was found hanging from the roof, already in a state of decomposition.
It is believed that the deceased were in a romantic relationship and had been living together. While the motive behind the deaths is still unknown, police have not ruled out the possibility of a domestic dispute.
The woman is reported to be from Lesotho, but the identities of the deceased will be made public once their next of kin have been notified.
Limpopo’s provincial Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has condemned the incident.
