Police say they expect to make an arrest soon in the murder of IFP Deputy Chief Whip Khethamabala Sithole.
National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola says he’s satisfied that the evidence that the investigating team has gathered, it’s close to making a breakthrough.
Sithole was gunned down in Katlehong three days ago, the motive for the attack is yet to be established.
National police spokesperson Athlenda Mathe says, “We know who we’re looking for, it’s just a matter of time before we effect an arrest. Our intelligence operatives and seasoned detectives are on the ground actively searching for this suspect. We also urge this suspect to hand himself over to his nearest police station.”
Meanwhile, Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) has called on Parliament to urgently improve the protection of its members, following the killing of Sithole.
