Police apprehend suspected hijackers
Police have arrested four suspects in a hijacking in Makhaza, Khayelitsha, on the Cape Flats. Spokesperson FC Van Wyk says they acted on information when the hijacking victim reported the incident at the Makhaza Police Station.
He says the four men will appear in the Khayelitsha Magistrate’s Court on Monday on charges of hijacking and the possession of stolen property.
“The members, accompanied by the complainant who was busy tracking his cellular telephone which was taken during the hijacking, tracked the phone to the corners of Dibana Road and Ncedo Street where they stopped a suspicious-looking Toyota Corolla with four occupants. The complainant recognised two of them as suspects who were involved in the initial hijacking. Further investigation led the members to premises in Ntlanzi Street in Kuyasa where the hijacked vehicle was recovered.
