Planned protests across SA over 7-year-old girls rape

2 minutes

A number of protests are expected to take place around the country today, to demand justice for a seven-year-old who was raped allegedly at the Bergview College in Eastern Cape.

The matter drew the ire of civil society organizations, calling for the school to handle the matter properly.

The school’s principal has also been accused of refusing to cooperate with the police on the matter.

Meanwhile, lobby group AfriForum has come to the principal’s defence, saying it was not possible for him to have been involved in the alleged rape, as he was at a different campus when the incident happened.

Operation Dudula President Zandile Dabula will be taking part in the demonstrations.

“We feel that especially when it comes to our children, there is no justice. If you could recall, in the past two- years, we’ve been burying our children due to poisonous snacks and nothing has been done. No investigations, the parents are still waiting to hear from the investigators.”

“So, it means our kids are suffering, our kids are dying, but there is definitely no justice. It’s surprising that her mom, has been fighting this thing, all by herself since October – it’s very sad,” she adds.
