Police Minister, Senzo Mchunu, who has been placed on special leave, says the Political Killings Task Team (PKTT) had financial implications to the fiscus that was unforeseen.
He is testifying before the Ad Hoc Committee investigating allegations of criminal infiltration, corruption and political interference in the justice system.
Mchunu was being questioned about his decision to disband the PKTT.
He says, “I would maintain the response that more and more, see as you do calculations and so on, that it has become a costly exercise which eschewed if you look at your needs countrywide. It gets more and critiques. It’s impossible to avoid that criticism.”
