Pirates look to win first-ever Carling Knockout Cup

Orlando Pirates will be looking to win their maiden Carling Knockout Cup when they take on Marumo Gallants in the final in Polokwane on Saturday.

Pirates already have the MTN-8 trophy in their cabinet and the Cup Kings are up against a club that’s never won anything in topflight football.

Carling Knockout Cup has been eluding them since it replaced the Telkom Knockout Cup in 2023.

Pirates Captain Nkosinathi Sibisi says they really look forward to the game on Saturday.

“It’s a cup final that has been eluding us for quite some time now. We are really looking forward to the game on Saturday, we know what we are coming up against Marumo Gallants, a very good side but the boys are well prepared.”

Pirates Coach Abdeslam Ouaddou says he is aware of the challenge posed by their opponents.

“It will be a tough game,  we are playing with ateam that is well organised. They are very compact and difficult to find spaces, but we will make sure to try and find solutions in order to break this block.”
