Phosa calls for less talk and more action on ANC renewal project

Former ANC treasurer-general Mathews Phosa has weighed in on the party’s renewal project. Phosa says the ANC must not only talk about renewal but must implement it.

His comments come in light of the Zondo Commission, where approximately 90 ANC members were implicated and mentioned in the State Capture Report.

Phosa was speaking to the SABC News about his newly-released political memoir titled: Witness to Power.

He says while law enforcement agencies must charge those who are wrong, it must never be done in a manner that prejudices another member of the party.

“There are many people who are mentioned in the Zondo Commission but were appointed straight to the cabinet. I’m saying it’s wrong. It’s absolutely wrong. You’ve got to generate the law enforcement to investigate the Zondo findings and after investigating those findings and say where is a crime committed or where is a crime not committed. The ANC must be stringent about law enforcement against its own members. The Integrity Committee must not be a message body,” says Phosa.
