Phala Phala scandal is not forgotten: Malema

Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema has reiterated that his party has not forgotten about the Phala Phala scandal and believes President Cyril Ramaphosa has a case to answer.

He says Parliament has formed an ad-hoc committee that will look into the Phala Phala issue as well as drug-related crime syndicates in Cape Town.

A large amount of US dollars was allegedly stolen at President Ramaphosa’s Phala Phala farm in Limpopo in 2020.

Malema was addressing supporters attending EFF’s birthday celebrations in Khayelitsha in Cape Town.

“We are going to make sure that this doesn’t become another Section 89 report which they brushed away where they said the President has got a case to answer. That Phala Phala issue is not dead, we are going to find a way of bringing it into this ad-hoc committee because even in that Phala Phala there was police corruption that happened and classified the report. Phala Phala is alive because the EFF is alive.”
