Phala Phala farm case to continue

The trial of three people accused of stealing a large amount of US dollars at President Cyril Ramaphosa’s Phala Phala farm is expected to resume in the Modimolle Regional Court in Limpopo on Friday.

In the last court appearance, a fourth state witness was declared hostile.

The court found that he had lied about not being able to speak or read English. Immanuela David and siblings, Floriana and Ndilinasho Joseph, allegedly broke into the farm and stole the money which had been stuffed in a sofa in February 2020.

The trial will proceed with a Cape Town car dealership manager testifying. Accused number one, Imanuwela David, bought a Range Rover Sport, amounting to more than R1.5 million from the dealership.

David paid R500 000 on the speed point machine at the dealership. He has been remanded in custody since his arrest in November 2023.

David is said to be the mastermind.
