A fatal crash on Eisleben road in Lentegeur, Mitchell’s Plain has claimed the life of a pedestrian and has injured several school children.
Police spokesperson, Wesley Twigg says the incident happened on Wednesday afternoon.
He says a motorist drove on the wrong side of the road and crashed head-on with four other vehicles and the pedestrian.
Twigg says the driver faces charges of culpable homicide and reckless and negligent driving.
“According to reports, the driver of a BMW drove on the wrong side of the road and collided with the pedestrian. The pedestrian was declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel. The driver of the BMW crashed into four other vehicles injuring the drivers and their passengers which include children. The injured victims including the driver of the BMW were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment. The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation and an arrest is yet to be made.”
