Parts of Eastern Cape in darkness after extreme weather

A number of areas in the Eastern Cape have been plunged into darkness following damage to Eskom’s infrastructure due to extreme weather conditions.

This comes after thousands of customers were left without electricity over the past few days due to damaging winds, heavy rainfall and lighting.

Affected areas include Alfred Nzo, OR Tambo, Chris Hani District Municipalities and parts of Kariega.

Eskom says its technicians are working around the clock to restore power in the affected areas.
