Parliament’s Ad Hoc Committee to meet in Cape Town

Parliament’s Ad Hoc Committee investigating allegations by the KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner, Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, will be meeting in Cape Town on Monday.

Mkhwanazi made wide-ranging allegations of criminal infiltration, corruption and political interference in the criminal justice system.

The meeting will discuss housekeeping issues, including questions to President Cyril Ramaphosa, as well as correspondence received.

It will also discuss the scheduling of witnesses. One of the alleged key witnesses in the disbandment of the Political Killings Task Team (PKTT) is businessman Brown Mogotsi, who is yet to appear before the committee.

Mogotsi refused to appear in-person before the committee unless his security detail is paid for by Parliament for seven days.

The institution indicated that engagements with him are continuing.
