Parliament panel subpoenas Paul O’Sullivan in justice probe

The Ad Hoc Committee investigating allegations of criminal infiltration, corruption and political interference in the justice system, has resolved to subpoena private investigator Paul O’ Sullivan.

His request to testify virtually has been vehemently rejected by the committee.

It wants him to appear in-person in Parliament.

O’Sullivan has raised concerns around his security if he appears in-person.

Committee Chairperson, Molapi Lekganyane, says they will not be dictated by O’Sullivan about which parties he will engage with when testifying.

“The committee is very clear that he should physically come before this committee. Furthermore, the committee rejects any tendency that he seeks to treat this committee as separate political parties. When we are a collective of parliament, there is no way in which a witness can say I am going to appear before you but I will not recognise so and so.”
