Parliament Committee satisfied with SASSA biometric registrations in KZN

Parliament’s Portfolio Committee on Social Development says it is satisfied with the progress of the Social Security Agency (SASSA) in KwaZulu-Natal in implementing biometric registration of grant beneficiaries.

The committee is on a three-day oversight visit to the provincial offices of SASSA and the National Development Agency.

Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Social Development Bridget Masango says their first day was insightful and eye opening.

“The first day was quite insightful and eye opening because that’s when we got our first take on the verification process and we saw it live at the Stanger local office but that was after we got a presentation of how the KZN SASSA is operating and with how much capacity in terms of both offices and staff members and how they work with their stakeholders.”
