Palmiet water system gradually recovering: City of Tshwane

The City of Tshwane says the Palmiet water-supply system is gradually recovering following Rand Water’s maintenance, but restoration remains uneven.

While water is steadily re-entering the network, some communities continue to experience low pressure, particularly in high-lying areas.

The metro says reservoirs are refilling progressively, with improvement recorded in areas such as Soshanguve and Atteridgeville low-level zones.

City Spokesperson Lindela Mashigo says water tankers have been deployed to affected areas as full system stabilisation is expected to take several more days.

“We have activated alternative water supply measures, including the deployment of water tankers and browsers to support affected communities. During this recovery period, we continue to monitor the system closely and expect further improvement over the coming day. We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience and thank residents for their patience and cooperation while the Palmiet system stabilises.”
