Palestinian supporters march in Sandton, demand free Palestine

Dozens of Pro-Palestine supporters have embarked on a protest at the United States Consulate in Sandton. The peaceful protest was part of the mobilisation of the South African Chapter of the Anti-apartheid movement, which was launched last night.

Today marks the United Nations International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People.

South African activist for the freedom of Palestine, Khalid Vawda says protests will continue across the country until justice is served for the Palestinian people.

“We are here to send a message to the powers that be that we are going to stand here and keep fighting until Palestine is free. The genocide and oppression that is taking place in Palestine they are subjected to, the most brutal form of apartheid that has been going on for more than seven decades. It is not just 417 days of genocide which has been astronomical in the destruction and the number of lives lost, but this has been going on for seven decades, and until that is ended and the cover and complicity that Israel has with the US and the UK completely ignoring international law, that is something we don’t stand for as justice loving citizens of the world,” says Vawda.
