Over 300 undocumented migrants deported at Maseru, Ficksburg orders

More than 300 undocumented migrants have been deported at the Maseru and Ficksburg Border posts between the Free State and Lesotho.

Border Management Authority provincial manager Thabo Nkhoma says they have arrested at least 100 people trying to re-enter the country illegally.

Nkhoma says some were apprehended with illicit goods.

Nkhoma says more than 400 000 travellers were welcomed at the two borders during the festive season.

“The return phase, which commenced on the 1st of January to date, for the Maseru bridge, we have already received 41 000 travellers from both directions, Lesotho and South Africa. For Ficksburg, it is just over 42 000 travellers.”
