Over 20 people have been reportedly drowned in different areas in Mpumalanga since the beginning of December.
Authorities in the province have called on people to avoid crossing swelling rivers or fishing in dams as the rains continues to pour.
On Saturday, police divers retrieved a body of a man in the Nkomazi River in Komatipoort and was found with some body parts missing suspecting that he could have been attacked by crocodiles.
On the other hand, the search operation for the missing South African National Defence Force (SANDF) member continues.
Mpumalanga Police Spokesperson, Donald Mdluli says, “We would like to warn them because besides the swelling rivers, we also have crocodiles as well as hippos that can endanger lives. So, we urge them to take precautions and if possible stay away from the rivers at this stage, because the rain continues and it will take a toll on us if we are not taking care. So, we want to warn them to be cautious about the dangers that can go with the rainy season.”
