Suspended deputy national police commissioner for crime detection, Lieutenant-General Shadrack Sibiya has laid out allegations of criminality and charges he says have been laid against him during the course of his career.
He has been testifying before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry in Pretoria.
Sibiya says the allegations have caused him grave harm.
“In total, more than 20 criminal cases were opened against me by at the task team established under General Ntlemeza [former Hawks boss Lieutenant-General Berning Ntlemeza], and crime intelligence, forming part of unsubstantiated and focused campaign to have me arrested, removed from office, and publicly discredited.”
“As a consequence of these actions, senior managers within the SAPS – and members of the public, were led to believe that I was involved in serious criminality, including corruption, organised crime, and drug dealing. These allegations have caused profound and lasting harm to my reputation, integrity and career,” adds Sibiya.
