Over 10 000 uThukela residents to get clean water after 30 years

Over 10 000 residents from the uThukela District Municipality in KwaZulu-Natal are expected to have access to clean running water for the first time in three decades.

This follows the launch of a water project in the area.

Professor Innocent Pikirayi from the University of Pretoria says Durban needs not just a dam or two but multiple infrastructures.

“The most critical technology in my view or the outcome of that technology is really a reliable, sustainable water infrastructure or water infrastructure. A city like Durban with a broader municipality needs not just a dam or two but needs multiple infrastructures so that we are able to retain the water resources that the residents must consume.”
