Operations resume at the Ngaka Modiri Molema District Municipality

Operations have resumed at the Ngaka Modiri Molema District Municipality in Mahikeng in the North West, after they were halted on Thursday.

The police’s cold case unit and Special Task Force conducted a search and seizure operation, which led to the confiscation of cellphones, laptops and electronics of some high-ranking municipal officials.

They reportedly targeted the offices of the Executive Mayor, Municipal Manager, and the Chief Financial Officer, among others.

Police say this forms part of ongoing investigations into corruption, fraud and maladministration.

Spokesperson for the Ngaka Modiri Molema District Municipality Letlhogonolo March, says, “The municipality sincerely apologises for the inconvenience caused to critical municipal services. But we had to allow due processes to unfold. Therefore, all municipal officials are requested to resume duty and allow the law enforcement processes to speak.
