Police recovered an AK 47 rifle and two 9mm pistols at the Qumbu murder suspect’s homestead on December 17, 2024.
One of the most wanted men in Qumbu in the Eastern Cape will be back in court on December 31st.
Police say the 25-year-old man has already appeared in court twice.
The accused was arrested on Tuesday in the Thina Administrative Area.
He was wanted for crimes including murder and attempted murder committed in the Qumbu area over four years.
Police Spokesperson, Welile Matyolo says the accused was found in possession of unlicensed firearms during his arrest .
Matyolo says, “The suspect had been wanted for a number of serious crimes committed from year 2020 ranging from two murders, three counts for unlawful possession of unlicensed firearms and a recent December 2024 case of attempted murder.”
On the day of his arrest at his homestead, he was found with an AK47 rifle and two 9mm pistols, all with filed off serial numbers and he had no licence to possess such firearms,” adds Matyolo.
