An initiate has collapsed and died at an initiation school in Vereeniging in the Vaal. Two other initiates have been rushed to hospital.
The circumstances surrounding the incidents are not clear at this stage.
Police have opened an inquest docket.
Gauteng police spokesperson Mavela Masondo says they will await the postmortem results which will determine the cause of death.
“Police are investigating circumstances that led to the death of a male at the initiation school in Sedibeng, on Sunday, 28 December 2025. It is reported that the initiate just collapsed and died. Police have opened an inquest docket. A postmortem will be conducted to establish the real cause of death,” says Masondo.
