New Zealand’s Silver Ferns, ranked second in the world, had to come from behind to narrowly beat the vastly improved Spar Proteas 57-56 in Invercargill, New Zealan, for a three-nil victory in the Taini Jamison Trophy series.
It was the Silver Fern’s 39th victory in 41 matches between the two countries.
The Proteas led after each of the first three quarters and the match was in the balance right until the end.
But an unforced error by the Proteas resulted in a turn-over and back-to-back goals for the Silver Ferns to secure victory.
