NW Premier set to sign 2 landmark Memorandums at Pilanesberg Airport

North West Premier Lazarus Mokgosi is set to sign two landmark Memorandums of Understanding with Public Works and Infrastructure Minister, Dean Macpherson at Pilanesberg Airport, outside Rustenburg.

The first agreement will see Infrastructure South Africa partner with the provincial Department of Community Safety and Transport Management to support the redevelopment of Pilanesberg Airport that was gutted by fire in 2023.

The airport was the only commercially licensed airport in the province.

The second agreement will see the Ramotshere Moiloa Local Municipality in Zeerust join infrastructure South Africa’s Adopt-a-municipality pilot programme.

Premier Mokgosi’s spokesperson, Sello Tatai says the signing marks a significant step towards accelerating infrastructure delivery and improving service delivery across the province.

“Premier Mokgosi maintains the implementation of the Provincial growth, and development strategy is well underway and it’s beginning to yield desired results. Participating in the State of the Nation Address more recently, Premier Mokgosi flagged a litany of intervention measures aimed at addressing the surge of unemployment in the province. These include the resuscitation of the Pilanesberg Airport to reincarnate commercial activities in the tourism sector in and around the Moses Kotane Local Municipality.”
