North West Police have given an update on the launch of their Safer Festive Season Operation that seeks to combat crime over the festive season. It was launched in Kanana Township near Klerksdorp in the North West. The operation started at the beginning of October and will be concluded at the end of January next year.
Acting Provincial Commissioner Patrick Asaneng says they want to put a squeeze on criminals this coming festive season and have identified the major criminal activities reported almost daily at their police stations.
“We want to address the scourge of gender based violence, focus number two is focused on combating on aggravating robbery, focus number three is intended to enhance bona security, focus number four primarily is dealing with illicit economy, focus number five dealing with issues of fire arm, liquor and second hands goods, focus number six its about by-laws enforcement.”
