Person behind bars
The High Court in North West has sentenced four people to various jail terms after finding them guilty of charges, including murder and kidnapping.
Their convictions stem from a robbery that took place at the home of one of the four in Rabusula Village near Hammanskraal, in June 2014.
Investigations revealed that intruders threatened the family and stole their belongings.
The court heard that, following this incident the four found the suspected robbers, burned them beyond recognition and dumped their bodies in an area nearby.
The charred remains of Muzi Mashazi, Peter Mohajane, and Gatsha Majola were discovered at the site. While the accused were initially arrested in August 2014, the charges were later withdrawn due to incomplete investigations.
The matter was reinstated in 2020 and transferred to the North West High Court in 2021. The accused were convicted in April this year.
Simon Legadimani Mathibe, Tebogo Lawrence More and Karabile Mphokeng were each sentenced to 18 years’ imprisonment for three counts of murder, and five years for four counts of kidnapping.
Thabo Maboa was sentenced to five years for four counts of kidnapping.
Both their sentences will run concurrently.
